Novak: McCain Camp Used Me As A Ruse
From USA Today:
Novak tells Fox that McCain campaign may have used him in a ruse
Robert Novak’s big story last night — that Republican John McCain might be about to announce his running mate — may have just been “a dodge” by the campaign to try and grab some headlines away from Democrat Barack Obama, Novak just conceded on Fox News Channel.
Novak said he’d gotten the tip from a “very senior McCain aide” and that the campaign “suggested I put it out.”
He called “another senior person” who wouldn’t comment, other than to say “wouldn’t this be a terrific week?” to announce a running mate, since Obama is overseas getting tons of media attention. “So I just put something on the Internet,” Novak added.
But now, he said, he’s been told by “certain people” that he may have been used.
We’re not sure how we feel about this. Or even if we believe it.
But if true, it shows once again some of McCain’s advisors have “tin ears.” Did they really think this would steal focus from Obama’s trip?
In any case, Mr. Novak is sure having a bad couple of days.

I’m shocked - shocked! - to hear that McCain may have tried to use a ruse to divert attention from the Messiah’s Most Holy World Tour. Why directly confront He Whose Middle Name Must Not Be Mentioned (and risk the wrath of the MSM) when there is still so much ducking and weaving and bobbing still to do?

Mr. Novak, If you’ve been outwitted by the McCain campaign, then you are truly dumb, my friend.

“They used me…” he wails. Ha! Novak makes it sound like he woke up in some motel room with a sore head and his pants round his ankles and no memory of how he got there. I wish I could believe that the McCain “campaign” was clever enough to think of something that would grab some headlines from BO or sharp enough to pull it off but, based on performance to date, nuh unh.
Nice eyebrows, by the way.

I am not sure what McCain could do to get some (positive) headlines.
Endorse BHO?
Maybe, but doubtful.

I love watching Obama do his best JFK imitation. Of course, JFK had some actual combat experience under his belt. Still, Obama *did* ride around in a military helicopter. In fact, I heard a stiff crosswind almost messed up the crease in Obama’s pants. Anyway, the whole suit’s recovering nicely at the Army dry cleaners.

Didn’t JFK get bit by a shark? I bet Obama never got bit by a shark. Ann Coulter for VP!

I think JFK got bit by a Japanese destroyer, but it looked an awful lot like a shark.

Thank you Bruce. Ann Coulter for VP!
